[All Abilities]
We’re excited to announce that Arcadia University’s Athletics Program has partnered with us and IDEATE for the All Abilities Program; a dedicated educational Esports experience for all abilities members of the Philadelphia community.
IDEATE is a program within Resources for Human Development that supports job seekers to break the cycle of poverty by providing highly vulnerable and underserved individuals personalized-tailored pathways to careers using technology and community engagement. Through this program, IDEATE will lead in opening another door of opportunity to the esports/gaming circuit. IDEATORs will be joined by GROWTH day service and Shining Through residents. Both programs are also part of Resources for Human Development.
The program launched January 19th & will span over 30 days at the Esports Center at Arcadia University. Through utilizing dynamic teaching approaches that combine educational elements and application, participants will receive a well-rounded hands-on experience by exploring various game titles and develop long-term skills.
“Why esports for a vocational human service program? Esports provides a vocationally rich environment that will empower the people we support to explore teamwork, networking, and community inclusion. All of these things are vital to participation in the labor force. Moreover, each participant will be able to explore his/hers/their own abilities on a variety of gaming interfaces and how digital inclusion can be increased by the anonymity that esports can provide. We are grateful to both Philly Esports and Arcadia University for their inclusive practices and enriching the lives of those we serve” says Kaelynne Koval, Program Director-RHD IDEATE.
Bill Rodgers, Director of Arcadia Esports adds, “Arcadia Esports is honored to have the opportunity to help facilitate the All Abilities Program. Our program has been built on the idea that Esports is an equal opportunity landscape for everyone and this event is a way for us to make that vision a reality. Thank you to Adam and Kaelynne for choosing us to be the home for this program and we are excited to get to work!”
Adam Nelson, CEO of Philly Esports says “We are so proud to be working with RHD and Arcadia for this program. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity to give underserved members of our community a chance to play, compete and learn utilizing esports. We look forward to continuing this program in the future and connecting with more members of our community.”
Through our efforts, we will be able to bring forth another pathway for passionate gamers to explore their esports dream. Esports is about community, togetherness, competition & passion, which is the epicenter of our collective message. We hope to provide bridges that connect people of all abilities to their desired esports path no matter the ability.
